There has been a lot of confusion about 2023’s new federal EV tax credit law.  First of all, when it comes to the tax code, many of us find it beyond confusing.  That is why a lot of people rely on tax professionals to help them prepare their annual tax returns.  Well the new EV tax credit won’t disappoint you, it is extremely confusing. more So What Exactly Is The Electric Vehicle Tax Credit? The electric vehicle tax credit is a nonrefundable tax credit. The Credit is offered to taxpayers who purchase a qualifying new electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid vehicle. The tax credit can also be used on qualifying used electric vehicles.  A nonrefundable tax credit will lower your tax liability by the credit amount. However, it can be used to offset taxes you owe. If you do not owe taxes and are receiving a refund, you can not use the tax credit.  Taxpayers can only claim one credit per vehicle. The new vehicle EV tax credit is worth up to a total of $7,500. It consists of a $3,750 tax credit for the battery requirement and a $3,750 tax credit for the critical minerals requirement. The new electric vehicle must meet several other qualifications in order to qualify the full EV tax credit. You may also qualify for up to $4,000 tax credit on qualifying used electric vehicles. There is a maximum limit of 30% of the sales price of a used EV. How Will I Know If I Qualify For The Tax Credit? 2021 Cadillac XT6 Review, Pricing, and Specs Although it shares components with the GMC Acadia, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 manages to disguise its down-market roots with convincingly upscale styling and a feature-rich options list. Two engines are offered—a turbocharged four-cylinder and a V-6—and there's even a Sport model with a torque-vectoring rear differential. Despite its performance bits, the XT6 lacks the driving verve of more athletic rivals such as the Audi Q7 and BMW X5. Instead, it seems better suited for taking on its crosstown rival, the Lincoln Aviator. Cadillac provides plenty of desirable equipment in the XT6, including a host of driver-assistance features, three rows of seats, and a power-operated liftgate. What's New for 2021? A turbocharged four-cylinder joins the XT6 lineup for 2021 as part of the new entry-level Luxury trim level. The XT5's cabin is spacious and comfortable and it offers a refined ride, but its appeal is otherwise limited. In light-footed, day-to-day operation, we've found the Cadillac's V-6 to be impressively quiet and well isolated from the cabin. Under heavy throttle, however, the bigger engine's harshness makes itself known in a most unflattering way. Encounter a twisty road and the 2021 XT5 can tackle it with confidence, although it won't make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up even when equipped with the optional adaptive suspension. Body roll is well controlled and the XT5 feels substantial and planted, which is especially comforting on long highway slogs. Over rough stretches of broken pavement, however, our test vehicle felt jittery and allowed sharp impacts to reverberate through the cabin. Steering is accurate but lacks any visceral feedback another missed opportunity to appeal to enthusiast drivers. And for 2020, the XT5 received better interior materials, improved ergonomics, and upgraded features such as a new digital gauge cluster. Even luxury crossovers should be practical, and the XT5 excels in this category. Above average cargo space, plenty of bins for stashing smaller items, and an easy-to-fold rear seat allow this Caddy to easily transform from luxury liner to cargo king.
